Village Rep is Moving! Year End Campaign 2024
Four years ago we lost our beloved resident theater space, Woolfe Street Playhouse due to long term forced closure brought on by Covid-19. The Village Rep took the show ‘on the road’ and have been lucky to perform in various spaces throughout Charleston County including Charleston Music Hall, Threshold Repertory Theatre and numerous outdoor stages. We have produced more than twenty theatrical productions in that time and can’t be more thankful for the patrons who have supported the company from location to location.
Finally we have located a new resident theatre space. In partnership with the town of Mt Pleasant, the Village Rep will be residing in a brand new arts facility located on Johnnie Dodds Blvd in the East Cooper Plaza. Centrally located for citizens and visitors of Charleston and East of the Cooper residents, we envison a warm welcoming multi-purpose space with easy access from all points and safe secure and FREE parking for all patrons. The upfits to the 9000 square ft. former fitness center are just getting underway and NOW is the time for community involvement. We hope to be in the new facility NEXT SUMMMER!!
We are so grateful to the town of Mt Pleasant for making this dream possible BUT Village Rep needs YOUR help to make this move a REALITY. New seating, new lighting rig, office equipment, website refurbishment, and MOVING expenses! All must be tackled immediately, and we can’t do this without YOU!

The Village Repertory Co. is a non profit professional theatre company, producing drama, comedy, and musicals with a special emphasis on the finest plays of the 20th Century. As the theatre company in residence at the Woolfe Street Playhouse, our aim is to bring lesser known classics and new works to life in a unique environment: The Village Rep creates theatre that breaks down the barriers between the performer and the audience. We create for our community, from within our community, working with Charleston's local ensemble of actors and artists.
