Considered one of the greatest English plays of the modern era, Journey’s End is set in the front-line trenches near Sant Quentin in 1918, towards the end of the First World War. The first war drama of it’s kind when it originally opened in 1927, the play gives a powerful yet intimate glimpse into the harrowing experiences of a British Army infantry company, whose story plays out in the officers’ dugout over four days in March, 1918. With a German offensive imminently approaching, each man is trapped, the days ticking by, the tension rising and the attack drawing ever closer.
In this smart, harrowing, edge-of-your-seat thriller, a desperate mother does whatever it takes to get her daughter back.
The Village Repertory Co. is a non profit professional theatre company, producing drama, comedy, and musicals with a special emphasis on the finest plays of the 20th Century. As the theatre company in residence at the Woolfe Street Playhouse, our aim is to bring lesser known classics and new works to life in a unique environment: The Village Rep creates theatre that breaks down the barriers between the performer and the audience. We create for our community, from within our community, working with Charleston's local ensemble of actors and artists.Learn More Download Brochure
