The Village Repertory Co is proud to present a musical retrospective of the roots of the historic music scene in L.A. ‘s Laurel Canyon.
Laurel Canyon- The California Sound is a theatrical and music experience that recreates through story and song, the early days of the burgenening singer/songwriter movement. The show highlights the lives and musical development of iconic folk-rock artists Joni Mitchell, The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Crosby Stills and Nash and The Mamas and the Papas.
The Village Rep Co. shows are unique in that six singers actually take on the role of the musicians they are paying tribute to, bringing a touch of theatre to these musical tributes. The singers are backed by a terrific five piece band of local musicians.

The Village Repertory Co. is a non profit professional theatre company, producing drama, comedy, and musicals with a special emphasis on the finest plays of the 20th Century. As the theatre company in residence at the Woolfe Street Playhouse, our aim is to bring lesser known classics and new works to life in a unique environment: The Village Rep creates theatre that breaks down the barriers between the performer and the audience. We create for our community, from within our community, working with Charleston's local ensemble of actors and artists.
